The PDX Pop Now! festival is one of my favorite music events in Portland. For the past two years, I’ve biked down to Southeast in perfect July weather to watch dozens of local bands play for free over the course of three days. The festival highlights some of this city’s best musicians, and does not stick to any one genre, which I appreciate. In association with the festival, the PDX Pop Now! folks also release a compilation CD featuring recordings by Portland bands. Just like the festival, it’s a great glimpse into the city’s healthy music scene.
Last year, The Early submitted a track to be considered for the compilation. Sadly the song didn’t make it on, but the process of writing, recording, and mixing a track specifically for the submission was a great learning experience, not to mention really fun. This year, I’m partnering with the Banana Stand to offer a special deal that with help other local bands have that same great experience. We’ve put together a package deal so that artists can walk away with finished track that’s ready to submit for a low price. All the details are on the Banana Stand website.
